An interactive book reading for ages 3-7 with instruments provided for everyone! Perfect for libraries and schools.
A unique book reading for National Reading Month in March or any time of year
•An interactive reading of our favorite kids book, The Animal Boogie.
•We add upbeat musical accompaniment featuring vocals, guitar, drums, and silly sound effects.
•We provide instruments for the kids and guide the group as they play along.
•We project the book on a screen so everyone can enjoy the fun illustrations and follow along. (We use a document camera NOT a scanned copy of the book in order to abide by all copyright laws.)
• After the book, we’ll lead a couple more drumming activities, and leave plenty of time for the kids to freely explore “The Instrument Alphabet”.
• The Instrument Alphabet is a hands-on collection of 26 percussion instruments from A to Z. Kids get to freely try them and practice reading and saying their names at their own pace.
We captivate the kids attention, and nurture participation and collaboration!
The Drum-Along Storytime is a 1 hour event that can be hosted at a library, school, community center or anywhere else kids gather.

"The Animal Boogie"
The Animal Boogie is a lively kids’ book that explores animals and the unique ways they move. On each page, clues hint at a particular animal. We’ll collaborate with the kids to observe the clues and figure out which animal it is.
Each animal also has a matching sound effect, adding interesting and silly sounds to the story.
Once we’ve identified the animal, we’ll kick off a fun beat, and the kids can jam along as we “boogie” the movements of that animal.
Carefully timed moments of audience participation ensure every child can join in and stay engaged.

Group Drumming Activities
After we finish reading The Animal Boogie, we'll lead the kids through a fun drumming game called "Rumble Flags", and we'll all play and sing one more song- "The Ants Go Marching One By One". It's a favorite of the kids, and it's perfect for practicing a steady beat on the bongo drums in an exciting drum-and-sing-along!
Preschools: If I've visited recently, I'll select alternate games and songs that will be brand new for your students.

The Instrument Alphabet
We wrap up the experience by giving the kids time to freely explore The Instrument Alphabet at their own pace.
The Instrument Alphabet is a hands-on display featuring a percussion instrument for every letter from A to Z. Kids can practice saying and reading each instrument’s name, while discovering the amazing variety of musical cultures from around the world, bringing together instruments from every continent!
Our friendly team will be there with the kids to answer questions, demonstrate how to play each instrument, and jam! It's a fun, interactive musical adventure for everyone.

Ideal group size is 15-40 kids, but we can accommodate any size group 100+. Large groups can be split up into smaller groups and rotated through storytime.
